MTN refuses Samsung repair

Repair no. ***

As a longstanding customer of MTN, I am appalled by the way MTN has refused to assist Nico Joubert with a faulty Samsung Tablet that he recently purchased. The repair department claims that the tablet was opened and now refuses to repair or replace the tablet. Is this merely just another bizarre excuse to save on repairs ? I would never attempt to open the tablet as I have absolutely no technological skills. Most vendors have a walk in warranty and normally do an immediate swop for faulty products. This is absolutely ludicrous, it's now my word against theirs. How can one prove that you didn't tamper with the product ?

Hello TheMediaGateway,

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for taking time to raise your concerns with MTN.

HVRC (Repair centre) is guided by the Manufacturer's repair and assessment guidelines, in accordance with their Standards and mandate. Physical damage/Traces of liquids being detected on handsets voids warranty and repairs cannot be attempted.

The handset is declared BER (Beyond Economical Repairs) due to the effects of liquid/ Physical contact. A physically damaged or liquid exposed handset cannot pass quality assurance tests due to defects that HVRC cannot ignore.

Regretfully we are unable to expedite the matter further.

Best regards
Mantoa
