MTN REALLY doesn't care

I had an uncapped data service, a contract which is no longer available, and extremely valuable to me. Over Xmas data ran out! On enquiry it emerged that my contract had been **********ly upgraded, apparently at an MTN branch. It seems that insiders at MTN advise ******** associates of numbers where upgrades are available. With the help of the insider, forged ID's and adress details are produced, or the so-called secret PIN is divulged. The contract is upgraded and the perpetrator walks out of the shop with a new iPhone. I will not go into the sheer hell, getting the service reinstated,- enough to say that it took a month, 5 visits to branches and, I'd estimate at least 2 days in total either on line or on the phone to MTN to get my contract restored. Now I want to be credited for the time the service was not available. That has taken at least 4 more calls and it's still not sorted. I want the documentation on which the upgrade was based- I am entitled to it. Identity theft is a real issue. And I want to know the progress in the investigation, and who in the MTN structures compromised my identity and details sufficiently for an upgrade to have taken place. MTN's way of dealing with my queries is simply not to respond. If I didn't have a number of contracts, I'd change to another service provider, but it's not worth the hassle and the competition is probably just as bad. A last remark is that the call-centre is useless- both in terms of waiting time (45 minutes holding on today), and service- sometimes you're lucky and get someone who knows what's going on, but usually not. And asking to escalate is a waste of time. They simply couldn't give a toss. I'll bet I'll still be phoning in a months time, trying to get the refund, and trying to get the info I want.

Thank you for your post

We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience that you have experienced as a result of this. We completely understand the frustration it causes.

Please be advised that a goodwill credit for one month subscription fee has been approved for the mobile number 073****016. Kindly note that to request the ***** documents, you will have to open a case of ***** against MTNSA and then the police officer dealing with your case will have to apply for section 205 subpoena.

We understand that the entire experience must be very frustrating and hope that we can restore your faith in us.

Kind Regards
