MTN putting me in Debt when I owe no money!!!!!

In January 2021 I finally finished my contract with MTN and decided to go prepaid, but of course one can only go over to prepaid once the full account has been settled and nothing is in arrears.

Not even two weeks after that I received and SMS stating that I have to make a cash payment of R2026.44 in store, which I thought was very weird as I never receive SMS’s like that and thought it was a ****.

A couple of months later I app**** for car financing and got rejected due to a low credit score which is very unlikey. I decided to do some research and ended up phoning MTN just incase because of those random SMS’s saying that I owe them money. Apparently it wasn’t a **** and the lady at MTN told me that I now owe over R3000 and that my account was handed over to ‘Nudebt’ MTN’s debt collector service.

Since then it’s been almost impossible to get anything done. When I phone MTN they say that their systems are offline, they can’t find my account, the debt collectors want prove that MTN is responsible for this by mistake, but MTN can’t even find my account. I can’t reach legal at ALL.

I CAN’T BUY A CAR. I have to hire a car. I can’t open accounts. I can’t do ANYTHING or reach anyone and none of this is my fault, but I seem to be the one dealing with it?

At some point I even contemplated to pay so this can be just be OVER, but that is just so unfair!

After this I will NEVER EVER work with MTN again!

Please help!!! How can I get a hold of legal? Who can I ask for help? I don’t know what to do. It’s restricting me so much in life.
