MTN price hike

My MTN contract data special plan ended on November 2023, I was paying R299 and I wasn't able to upgrade or cancel my contract due to MTN services offline. On the same data plan, the amount the MTN charge me R1818 and it was done without my concern for the past 2 month. I did call on the 29 November 2023 to find out the upset of this cost. MTN days my new month to month contract is R1818. I am so angry with MTN.
