MTN Poor Service (Southgate and Rosebank)
On 08-01-2023 I visited the Southgate MTN branch one near Checkers as I wanted to take up a contract and also pointed out that the cellphone must have a dual sim capability.
I was advised that the only cellphone that has a dual sim capability was a Vivo and that Huawei and Samsung could only take one sim card, proceeded to the other branch one near Pick n Pay where a consultant by the name of Nkosinathi assisted and confirmed that a Samsung A53 can take dual sim cards and he further advised that the branch does not have stock and will receive the devices the following day.
The following day on 09-01-2023 called to advise that the only branch showing stock was the one in Ferndale and that he was going to check and revert back to me, this was when I last heard from Nkosinathi, attempted calling including leaving a message for him to call me back with no luck.
Seeing that I wasn't getting any response I went back to the branch on 10-01-2023 and was told that Nkosinathi is not in and that I should wait for him, then left the branch as this was honestly nonsense, I went back to the branch near Checkers again where a consultant went as far as showing me on her system that the Samsung A7 Lite tablet that comes with the phone (A53) wasn't showing stock anywhere, surprisingly I had contacted a number which diverted to an office which is apparently situated in centurion where a consultant confirmed that there was availability in Sandton, Melrose Arch and Rosebank.
On 10-01-2023 my partner stopped at Rosebank where she was advised that both the A7 and A53 are available and that I could be assisted to obtain this here at the branch including moving the contract opened at Southgate to them. e
On 11-01-2023 I visited the branch where a consultant by the name of Nthabiseng assisted, the issue emerged when Nthabiseng then told me that a combo deal doesn't allow for my old number to be ported, this made no sense as she couldn't even substantiate this, she told me that the option is greyed out, for me this is just a system issue based on my experience working with different systems.
I then requested for Nthabiseng to call someone over who could give a clear reason as to why my number couldn't be ported and all of a sudden the number could be ported now and Nthabiseng advised that it was a system glitch, this is after she had made a bold statement that the combo deals do not allow for a number to be ported.
I received texts advising that the port was successful and today around 14H00 I am now receiving another message stating that the port was not successful, this is absolute nonsense.
I tried phoning Nthabiseng on the number she gave me in case of issues similar to this but the phone was ringing with no answer, sent a text and didn't get any response either.
I am now stuck with a phone which cannot be used, and had made it clear that I need this phone for work as I travel a lot and need the data for connectivity and talk time for work related matters.
