MTN POOR SERVICE - Contract Cancelled

Bought a MTN Contract through a third party on MTN website. Was not happy with the contract and returned the phone as I was able to cancel the contract within the 10 days. I returned the phone to MTN (which they took back - assumption everything is in order and that my contract would no longer exist ). They gave me the IRMS number which means I no longer have the phone. I followed the process of calling the third party site and gave them the IRMS to cancel the contract. This was in hope that the contract was cancelled. I moved the money out the bank account just in case they tried to befit my account which they did and it rejected and I requested that they stop. (Apparently they don’t do debit orders from Discovery bank as well which is BS). Never heard a word since.

I now receive a call 8 months after not having the phone in my possession and not being debited that I owe MTN 5k. I have SSDA calling me everyday and I explain to them that I don’t have the phone and I will not pay for an asset I don’t have. I have sent emails to MTN customer care, I have walked in to multiple MTN stores where they cannot assist as it is with “Legal” . I tried phoning MTN -135 to get through to the legal department and it is absolutely ridiculous service. A listed company, and I cannot speak to a natural person, don’t know why but I should have known because they haven’t had the best reputation of being a great client service company. Once through to a consultant they cannot hear me because they are on a new system , after repeating hello for 10 min to get 5 seconds of the consultants time, only for her to tell me that they cannot transfer to the legal department and their number is 083808. This number does not ring/exist.

I have sent emails the whole week to sort out this situation to SSDA and the email that SSDA used for MTN legal. My emails that I have sent to MTN legal does not deliver.

I really don’t understand what more I need to do and if someone from legal at MTN can help me sort out this situation that would be great help.
