MTN poor customer service and recognition
I was recently turned down from getting a R420 mobile contract because I have a 'low' credit score. I went to the store on Saturday and filled in all the forms. They ran a credit check and it came back positive. There was a system issue where they couldn't port my number. I waited three days where I had to call them rather than them contact me with updates. They eventually called me saying my application was rejected due to a low credit score. My clearscore number is over 600. Well over the national average. MTN offered no explanation as to why my credit score was perceived as low. I am a young professional who spends money only when necessary. I have no debt to my name and I save consistently. MTN has wasted my time and questioned my integrity based on no facts. If you are a young professional seeking an affordable mobile contract, seek elsewhere. According to clearscore I can get a R300 000 bank loan but MTN says I can't afford a R420 a month cellphone contract? Pathetic.
