MTN Owes me R3500 from Dec2019
Hi, Yugen Please note that I visited the Cornubia MTN Store on the 13/12/2019 and was assisted by Sherwyn Moodley. The primary reason for my visit was to inquire about LTE coverage in my area (iZinga, Umhlanga) due to my contract with my current provider namely Telkom was up for renewal. I did explain the same to Sherwyn which lead us into a prepaid option. We then went through a few price points and I heard the figure R349 (so did my wife by the way). This was pricey just for a test, however I did agree with this option and continued with the payment. Once the transaction was complete, I then started to walk out of the store, this is when I was completely taken aback by the actual figure that was on the invoice. The invoice was for an amount of R3499.00 and immediately brought this to Sherwyn attention. I then informed Sherwyn that this was not the amount that I agreed on and please reverse this purchase immediately. He then responded by telling me that we will sort it out, but he will get back to me on Wednesday the 18th of December 2019 due to the public holidays and I must keep the card sealed. I then agreed, I believe he reached out that following week and he advised me that it’s going to be a process as he needs his manager and head office to get involved. I patiently understood. It kept going back and forth for a few weeks which took us into January. By this point I started to become uneasy if I’m honest. I did advise Sherwyn that I will request my bank to reverse the transaction from their side however he advised me that I should wait before we do that because the case he logged is still opened and he’s trying his best, so I once again agreed. By mid-January 2020 he called me to say that MTN is finding it very hard to action this reversal. I understood and opened communication with FNB immediately, I was then requested to explain what transpired to my Private Banker and this is when he told me that in order to action this request all I needed from MTN was a letter stating that there was a dispute with this transaction and the customer (Shaun Samson) wants a refund and everything will take place thereafter. I have not received this letter from MTN
