MTN overcharging on month to month WIFI contract

Please see below mail I sent to MTN today regarding the very bad service I received from MTN regarding WIFI service: Good day

First of all I want to cancel this month to month contract with immediate effect, as the service that I signed up for was not what I ended up paying for or what I received.

Below please see after all the mails and calls I made with no joy, how and what happened and why I am cancelling:

28 Feb 2024, consultant from RewardsCo contacted me. Consultant explained the amount that I need to pay was R533.42 with no additional costs, only R499 per month as from the 4th of April when next payment is due. 28 Feb 2024 – Made payment of R533.42 for usage 04 March 2024 – 04 April 2024 and my contract was sent to me clearly stating payment of R499.00 as from 4 April 2024 04 March 2024 – Received my router and sim card and started using the service. 02 April 2024 - Received statement stating amount owing is R1448.29 less the R533.42 – total due R914.87 (R499.00 monthly fee and R416.29 Pro rata) 02 April – 12 April 2024 sending mails up and down to you only to be told it is a pro rata fee but no one can tell me what the pro rata rate is for. 12 April 2024 – Made payment of R499.00 for upfront payment for usage from 04 April 2024 to 04 May 2024 16 April 2024 – My daughter advised me that the service has been cut - I sent a message on FB and then also on FB messenger – with no luck 17 April 2024 – I contacted Rewardsco – spoke to Nompumelelo and explained the situation to her as well - she then said the amount of R416.29 was pro rata for May. I advised her that I am cancelling the contract. She said I can take the router and sim back to any MTN store – as I live in Greenshields park – I went to Walmer park and the lady advised that I have to go to the Head office which is in Newton Park – I will take the router and sim card in hopefully during the course of this week. 22 April 2024 – I get an sms to state that I need to pay R427.79 – where does that amount come from?

Please bear in mind that in total I paid the amount of R533.42 and R499.00 R1032.42 and I got exactly 45 days’ worth of Wifi – not even a month and a half.

You will not get an extra 1 cent from me apart from the R1032.42 which I already paid.

I will be reporting this on Hello Peter and if I look at your Facebook reviews, you are not very popular.
