MTN overbilling mess & poor customer service

I frustrated with the poor service MTN South Africa is rendering, I am an MTN contract subscriber, I have a sim-only data contract with MTN which enables me to receive 40 gigs of data for 199 p/m. I took out this contract a year ago and everything was fine until I app**** for an upgrade this year.

In July this year I saw a cellphone on the mtn webside which I was impressed by the amount of internal memory it had for such a price which stated as 128 gig internal memory at 129 p/m. I app**** for this contract and the device was delivered 2 weeks after order, on delivery of the device, I noticed that the internal memory that was written on the box of the cellphone was 16 gigs memory contradicting what was advertised on mtn website when I made the order, the courier had already left, so I called mtn quickly & I was adviced to take the phone back to my nearest mtn store, which I did after being sent back & forth by the two mtn stores in my town. After that, I had to wait for close to two months because the device had not been confirmed that it had reached the mtn warehouse. Finally, towards the end of October after weeks of calls the case was closed. I then requested a reinstatement of my original sim-only data contract, which mtn did.

But after the end of October, I received a bill of R1500 which mtn debited on my account, there was no explaonation as to what the reason for thos exorbitant bill was, because I am only subscribed for a bill of R199. I reversed the debit order, & kept calling mtn for a month with out a valid reason, the kept talling me that they have escalated the case and gave me a reference after each call, telling me to call back after two days.

On the 30th of November, mtn again charged R1700 from my bank account which I reveresed again, I called them this morning& spoke to another mtn consultant who stated that MTN has responded to my quiry, but that I have to be transferred to the retensions department to find out the outcome.

I have been trying to call mtn 3 times, totalling almost 1 hour 40 minutes, still no answer from the retensions department. This is very bad service. I'm even thinking of cancelling this contract.
