MTN or Samsung

I took out a new contract for my daughter in April 2017. Samsung J7. This was for her birthday. She doesn't use the phone a lot, she's 10 years old and is not allowed to take her phone to school or where we can't supervise. The phone is not charging for some reason. I phoned the MTN store in Cresta where I got it from to enquire as to what to do. They said I can bring it in and ask for Craig. I went in yesterday, Craig was off sick and another lady helped me. She asked for the phone (I had the phone packed in the box with the charger and headphones) The lady had a look at the phone and plugged it in using another charger and confirmed that it was charging. I explained that it does that, it charges now and then tomorrow it turns off when you plug the phone in. She was going to book the phone as it is still under warranty, however, there is a little cardboard placing missing that goes in the box. Because I don't have the cardboard placing I now can't book the phone under warranty, it must be booked as repair.

I've never heard anything so ridiculous before. When I got the phone I was told to keep the box in case of a warranty claim, not keep the box with every plastic/cardboard wrapping inside. So now my question is - Is this MTN not wanting to take the phone and book it under warranty or Samsung not taking the phone from MTN like this?

I am really disappointed. No one tells you that you need to keep all the little pieces of cardboard in the box, just that you need to keep the box. Until you need to claim against the warranty. I also didn't expect the new phone to have issues so soon.

This is something that's not disclosed when you get the phone. I did not book the phone in and is currently sitting with something that doesn't work but I have to pay for it. Why should I book it for repair if it's still under Warranty , I've kept the box as per your request when I purchased the phone, because there's not a cardboard placing inside the box my warranty is not longer valid - Really MTN this is not on!!!!
