MTN number hacking and simple sim swap taking forever.

I am so frustrated with the service received from MTN in trying to recover my cellphone number which was hacked. My number was hacked 3 days ago, so I went to MTN Highveld mall after getting an affidavit from SAPS- as MTN personnel told me this was the only way they could do a 'forced' sim swop to recover my number. I was told this would take "2 to 24 hours" to resolve and I should have my number back. 24 hours later I went back to the MTN store, only for them to start over the process because the assistance I got the day before seemingly did not work- HOW? I was not even given an explanation- except that "the person who approves is off". So why give clients the hope of "2 to 24 hours" if the process is done correctly? And why should this take SO long? It is urgent that I recover my cellphone number, not only because I have had this number all my life, but I also run my business using this number! Yet MTN is so nonchalant about this! Sim swaps need to happen faster than this. It is ridiculous. And MTN numbers are getting hacked tooo frequently lately, this is concerning. Please Help!
