MTN Number for Life Issue

I have been struggling for the past month with MTN trying to reinstate my number which I have used for over 10 years as a contract customer and recently prepaid customer before I left for my assignment abroad. My number is linked to everything I do for instance my Bank OTP and 1 time pins for everything are sent to my MTN number. All my app details are linked to this single number which I now do not have access to. I changed phones and for approval it requires my MTN number for everything. I am unable to do a single transaction on my phone and that includes paying for my son's school fees. I would like my number reinstated as I still have the Simcard on me. After several conversation with many consultants I struggle to believe that there is nothing that can be done to reinstate a number. I am sure MTN has had many similar requests from Expats working abroad and can offer this as a service. I need to recover my number as a matter of urgency and assistance from MTN on this will be highly appreciated.
