MTN \Number for life\" is \"Number for 3 months\"!"

I used a pay-as-you-go cell phone for work related calls, but I use it very infrequently. I was never told that I need to make a call every three months to keep the number active. I explained my situation in store (MTN Brooklyn Mall, Pretoria) and ASKED how to make sure I keep my number. I was told that if I have airtime on the phone, I will keep my number. This was a lie!

This number has been sent to thousands of people and now MTN says it has been \recycled\" and that there is no way to get it back. How is that keeping my \"Number for life\"? Worst service I have ever received from a network provider in SA. I NEED this number to be reinstated, since I cannot reverse the communications which have my recycled number listed as my contact details. MTN needs to deliver what they promise!"

Hello AndyB1703,

We are truly sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Kindly note if the number is inactive for more than 90 days without a number for life purchase it will be recycled.

We have now escalated the matter directly to the management team within our Prepaid Department and requested assistance in trying to re-issue the number.

We will touch base with you as soon as we get feedback.

Regards
Tim
