MTN not supporting laws

My simcard went missing in March this year. For very obvious lockdown reasons I could not get to MTN in quite a while. I went to the MTN in Cresta shopping centre and the gentleman could not assist me as my ID was also missing and I only had a police original affidavit. Duringthe last two weeks I went 4 times to the MTN shop with my passport and proof of residence.

The first time on July 23 I got there at 16:55 and they were closed (even though they should only close at 17:00). My trying to get attention from the staff inside was ignored. Two days later the same happened when I got there at 16:52 and again on July 31.

Today 8 August when I went again, the guy assisting at cubicle nr 2 advised me that my number was reallocated to a new user. I asked him how can that be done and explained the above to him showing it was not my fault it took long. It was reallocated according to him July 31.

With a very bad attitude he answered that nevertheless the circumstances, I took too long. When I asked is it my fault they closed earlier than they were suppose to I got a blank stare. I asked when the president said that we not allowed to go out etc what was I to do? He said that he cant help me further.

I told him my banking, social media accounts, email accounts etc is linked to that number. He just smiled and looked away.

This is not only unacceptable but also flippen rude.

As it was the president who said we not allowed to go out etc and I lost access to my banking and social media, I will be reporting this matter to the Covid line for companies not abiding by the rules as your staff basically said to break them. I will also be reporting to all other authorities I can find where this cass will be applicable for investigation.
