To anyone reading this post, if you are planning to go to the MTN Store in Forest Hill please make a U-Turn. The service I have received is the worst experience ever in my entire adult-life. First day when I went to the store, it was not busy (less customers) consultants were idling in their stations busy with their cellphones, no one offered to assist till I approached one of them and they indicated that the system is offline. Decided to go back home and went in another day, I was lucky on this day as I found someone who was helpful and when I articulated my experience she said "if you where a white person they would have approached you from the moment you stepped in". I was shocked and disturbed by the comment.
Nonetheless, let me not digress. I took out a data sim contract last year (2020) for R299, first three months the correct amount was debited. January 2021, got the shock of my life as my bill was sitting at roughly R9000, I called customer service and I was told that I have been debited incorrectly therefore I should email my contract. I was unable to email my contract immediately because when I collected sim card the consultant was unable to print out the hard copy of the contract because once again system was offline or/and printers were not working. She indicated that she will email it to me. I only received my contract in May 2021 after tons of emails and visits to the store. I now felt like I was part of their furniture.
To cut a long story short, the consultant was supposed to set limits on my contract to 0 so that when my data is depleted it would not run over, she did not, however on my contract she hand written that she had set the limits to 0. She was lying and how do I know this is because when I called MTN in January that was the only time when the limits were set. MTN is not a bad service provider, the demise of the company will be caused by the people working for it because of their inadequate and horrible customer service. If you are experiencing any problems with MTN, my advice is visit their head office (they close at 13:00, although it is not written in their website). As I type out this review, I am drinking tea and trying to figure out as to how I am going to pay 9K when I took a data sim contract for R299...simply because of someone's negligence...maybe I should watch money heist :(
