MTN not helping to cancel an expired contract!!!

I have 3 MTN contracts of which 1 finished at the end of March 2017. I have been trying since last week Wednesday (19/04/2017) to cancel the contract and convert the number to pay as you go. Everytime I phone, I get transferred to the Cancellations Department, but I end up holding for between 30 - 40 minutes for them to answer, but no one answers. The department who screens you (checks that your contract is finished) has now escalated my request via e-mail to the cancellations department about 3 times - and everytime I get promised a 2-24 hours reponse time, which never once has been honoured. I am in the process of getting a Telkom data contract and I want to port this number to Telkom, but now this is also delaying that process as Telkom can't port a number which is still under a contract. PLUS, MTN bills you on the 21st of every month, meaning due to their bad service, I missed the billing date and they will bill me again for this contract - which I will fight as I tried to cancel the contract before them and it's evident the delay is on MTN side. No one has so much as phoned me from MTN, they just tell me everytime it will take 2-24 hours. I even tried to go to a MTN store to cancel the contract, but they can't help, they said it MUST be done telephonically. This is just the worst ever service delivery!!!!

Hi Alice

Thank you for coming back to me. I am not yet entirely satisfied with the outcome, as the R261.00 credit you mentioned shows as a debit on the number in question.

Once I am entirely satisfied with the outcome, I will post accordingly.

Kind regards
