MTN not going out of their way for elderly.
I took my elderly mom to buy a brand new MTN Nokia cellphone. She was so excited because it was her first new phone as she always gets everyone else's hand me downs. As a grandmother one of her joys in life is seeing pics of her grandchildren. The first thing she wanted to receive was an MMS. After numerous attempts to activate the service telephonically she has now been to their local MTN shop twice. They kept telling her that it would be activated. Then they told her there must be something wrong with the phone and sent her back to the supplier. I dont live near my parents and My mom can barely walk a 100 metres without experiencing severe backpain. She was sent to buy a memory card and told to wait for the activation. Needless to say, she still cant receive MMS's and can now not send sms's either!!!! She is now very anxious because no one wants to help her and she barely understands tecnology as is. She spent a lot of her pension money to buy this phone. The supplier wont give her a new phone either because they say there is nothing wrong with it. I cant mannage to get hold of an operator at all because it is not an option on MTN's helpline for pay as you go customers.
