MTN Non-Existent Customer Service
Good day,
I was paid late this month, as such my debit order bounced, so I went into the MTN store on the Bluff on the 2nd of the month to make payment, I was told I owe nothing. Yesterday the service is cut off, on querying why I was told I owe them money so I went to the Bluff branch again to pay them in cash only to be told they do not accept cash I either have to pay by card or do an EFT. I went home and did an immediate payment to MTN.
Since it was after 15:00 I did not think that the payment would reflect yesterday so called them this morning as my cell service had not as yet been reinstated as of 09:00am. I call customer services speak to Simphiwe explaining that I did an immediate payment only to be told it would take 24 to 48 hours to reflect in their account at which time I advised this is not the case with an immediate payment, send him through proof of payment, wait 15 minutes & try to call him back to ensure he has received said POP only to be told they don't know this person & he could possibly be in another province and they cannot transfer me to the accounts department.
I used to be a big supporter of MTN, I had 4 accounts with them, but over the last few years their customer service has become non-existent even when one goes into the store you are normally left waiting for a half an hour as two thirds of the staff in the store do not work directly for MTN and cannot assist you, while the rest are on lunch or are out. As such I have taken my business elsewhere and will continue to do so as soon as this last contract is finished.
