MTN NON EXISTANT CUSTOMER CARE AFTER SALE
I never really cared for having any contract agreements with cellphone service providers because of the bad things I've heard about customer care centres.
I took a risk anyway because it seemed like I would save some money taking on a month to month data contract AND I AM LEFT FEELING LIKE I HAD MADE THE WORST MISTAKE EVER !!!
I really wanted to give MTN the benefit of the doubt but I honestly feel ******.
I app**** online for a uncapped line for R499 per month. At 5pm on the 21st November 2023 I was contacted by a sales consultant and I was assisted with finalising the deal.
The consultant mentioned to me that I have to present my ID to the DSV courier company upon delivery of the router and I specifically mentioned that I had unfortunately lost my ID and will not be able to present it to DSV but that I have a drivers license or could go and get a temp ID to verify my identity. The consultant assured me that a temp ID would suffice and with that the deal was finalised.I had even made an immediate payment after the call as instructed and received confirmation of payment from MTN a few hours later. I was contacted by DSV a day later to arrange for delivery and once again the DSV courier consultant advised that I would need to present my ID upon delivery. I told the courier consultant about the conversation I had with the MTN sales consultant and that I will be able to get a temp ID or present my Drivers lisence for verification. The courier consultant than tells me I need to have my ID.
The process of getting my ID could take weeks and while I do that I am paying for a service I cannot use because I was misinformed.
I tried calling the online service centre numerous times over the last 2 days and I was redirected from one department to another with no resolution.
I have asked if there are alternate ways for me to collect the router and or alternate ways to verify my identity upon delivery but noone seems to know and noone seems to care either.
I was assisted by Nisha on one of the calls and she promised that she would escalate the matter and that I would get a call before end of business on the 22nd November which has proved to be an empty promise.
This is very disappointing to say the least. MTN has hno regard for their customers and it seems like making the sale is where customer care ends.
All I want is for this to be resolved, either give me an alternate method to collect the router or cancel the deal and refund me.
