MTN NO SIGNAL AND NO HELP FROM THEM!!!

About a week ago there was loadshedding here in Howick that knocked out my MTN signal. My partner, myself and our neighbors all experienced this sudden signal lost (A tower must be down). The signal is so bad that we cannot surf the web, send sms's or make phone calls. It's like being on another planet. I have been trying to get hold of MTN to log the problem but all service numbers are either automated or immediately go onto the busy tone. Why can we not get hold of an actual person to help??? I have 3 MTN contracts up for renewal this month as well as 2 pay as you go accounts. I will give them 3 more days to get back to me. Otherwise I will take my contracts and pay as you go accounts to a better Network Provider. Everyone else in our complex have agreed to do the same.

Hello mchl_keefer,

Thank you for your post

Please call the Network Department at ***, they will issue a formal and thereafter will send a technician to assess the problem.

Due to the current load shedding this is affecting our network service in certain areas around the country. MTN South Africa works tirelessly to ensure that there is minimal affect and that its customers continue to receive a quality voice and data experience during these periods of load shedding.

In the event of a power failure MTN base station sites are powered by batteries for a period of time, but will fail if outages are for long periods. In the case of failures being longer than normal and the batteries no longer can power the equipment, MTN endeavours to get generators to important sites to restore service, this however cannot be achieved for 100% of the failed sites.

We would like to assure you that we are actively working to improve our service levels.

Regards
Lungi
