MTN NO SERVICE - OVER CHARGE ON ACCOUNTS

Since Mtn has taken over all Nashua clients on Mtn contracts all service is now none existent! No statements for the first two month....my account suddenly gets blocked cause they just decide to apply limits to the account with out any notification and when you try to get hold of anyone on 808 you hold for 30min and maybe get hold of someone if you are lucky. This happened to me 3 times in a space of a month and a half where it cost me time out of my busy schedule to go find a branch that can try and assist but then you anyways have to call the center and sit and wait,.

Now after I have upgraded my contract I am getting ridiculous bills, I never go over my limit and I use Afrihost for my data...but yet I'm getting bills for data that I'm not using. I also use my loyalty points to purchase more data but MTN just takes my points and no data gets credited on my account. I have been trying to sort out my billing issue by emailing MTN and trying to call 808 but no answer and no replies to any of my emails to customer service since the 01/07/2015 #***2

I am seriously considering contacting Cell C to take their new buy out option, cause MTN just doesn't care!

Hello Tmeyer1983,

Thank you for posting.

Apologies for the delayed response and for any inconvenience caused.

Kindly note that Afrihost is not a Network provider. They are a Wireless Application Service Provider and act as a host for your data service. Afrihost accesses the MTN Network for their data capabilities but their billing setup varies and does not link to MTN's customer billing system.

In other words even though Afrihost is your data provider the APN used was mymtn for your Internet connection hence the charges incurred. It is evident that there was a switch in the APN from Afrihost to mymtn.

Any handset or device purchased through a specific network provider will have the network providers APN setting defaulted to the specific network. This means that no configuration is required when using the device and it is automatically updated to the default APN. In this scenario, your voice line had 2 available APN's that it could connect to.

The process of validating the charges involves linking the usage to the sim card at the time of the sessions on the network. Please visit Afrihost website for more information on their data provisioning.

Regards,
Nomonde.
