Mtn nightmare!
Unfortunately I can not rate in minus stars, but I so would of I could. I AM FURIOUS with their service and the promise to do something, my emails and calls remain unanswered, despite promising to keep me in the loop, the last correspondence I received was over a week ago, even though I have made it my life's mission to email and cc everyone I possibly could from every website I could find online to help aid me in my fight on literally a daily basis. I even got ICASA and MTN legal team involved to try and mediate on my behalf. Unfortunately to no avail. Mtn does not seem to co operate well and leaves everyone in the dark. My one contract was due to end. I couldn't cancel my contract in store, I was told to call 135. 135 is literally like 45 min to an hour of your life wasted listening to bull**** adverts I have zero interest in, and elevator music in the hopes to finally reach a human being on the other end to make a simple request. Once you get through, the call center operative says that your call will be recorded. Asks how they are able to help. You request to cancel your contract that is upcoming, just as a notice period that when it does, do not charge me for a product I have paid in full or try and smeer off another device into me that I no longer need! Which has happened in my case as well. Then you get transfered to a different consultant. More waiting. More music. More ads. Sorry whoops. You aren't where you need to be yet. Wait there is more, I'll put you through!! Eventually you state OK, I have two contracts. After the DNA and passwords and one time pins and log ins and security questions, you're now in my profile, you can see I have two. You can see which one is due to expire! Obviously. If you have a brain cell. You can take the initiative to realise wait a min. This customer surely wants to cancel the one that due to expire as per request. And not go and flipping well cancel the brand new voice contract that is literally not even 6 months old..... And schedule it for early cancellation whereby the pay in on the new device is R13000!!!!!! I did not even know of this. I went into store. Paid my monthly fee. Was told I had to pay double because apparently I was in arrears. But gave them benefit of the doubt, I'm human. Perhaps I forgot one month to pay. No biggie. Phone is suddenly cut off. Despite being paid. I go back ask what is going on. No man on the system you're active. The phone is working. I dial in front of them, says the number does not exist in the Mtn network. They dig around. Oh whoops. Looks like you're in collections for non payment. How. How is that possible. When you have just printed my slip proving I've paid. 2 months installments. Literally 5 min ago. Even though my invoice stated I only owed that specific month. Anyhow. It gets queried. Oh sorry. The call center agent decided to cancel the wrong contract. The new contract. Not the one due to expire. And sorry mam, but you need to pay 13 000 rand. For the device fee and early cancellation fee as well. I take them on about it. I call. I email. I visit the branch each and every day. Doing not only my job but theirs as well. Still paying for a damn device I have zero use for since it is a glorified expensive paperweight! No calls. No sms. If no WiFi to WhatsApp only. I could literally throw it away. I then say OK. ICASA. What now. They say OK, let them contact Mtn. OK mam, please pay an additional fee of 1355,00 and we will make sure the next day, or same day, your number will be reactivated that is MTN request. Please let us know once you have paid. We are Sorry for your inconvenience. I ask MTN how I should be sure. Will it actually be reactivated. No no. You have our word. I put up a fuss and say I don't feel it's right I have to pay the legal charges since it was not my error. And it has caused me a lot of financial loss and distress due to my phone being cut off for the last 3 months virtually, and on principle, I don't want to pay it however, I've been without a phone long enough and have been patient enough, so ***** it. I'll pay. Again. Get this nightmare over and done with since it's *****ing up my credit record, that through covid etc I've tried so hard to maintain with the hopes of getting finance for a vehical. Expect, Mtn call center staff clearly had other plans for me and had now through this, has not materialized.
Monies paid. 3 months and empty ass promises later. The contract I wanted to cancel, is now on month to month and my brand new contract cancelled. The branch I approached for help, brialliant service. Friendly staff. Equally outraged at what has transpired. On their case each day. Logging tickets and complaints on my behalf asking head office and accounts to stop pressing me for money, monies I do not owe. And to reconnect my phone. They know I'm not a non payer. They know me. And after 10 years and multiple contracts, they should. While my business falls into financial ruin. And the best part of all, the voice recordings they tell you is there for quality control purposes and evidential nature, goes missing, along with the idiot whom could not do the single thing they get paid for. It's great. After 10 years of being a loyal client of MTN. I most certainly would not recommend them right now. Thanks to them, I too am now grey listed as a non payer and a misser of payments. When my only request from them despite all the inconvenience and frustration through all of this mess, was just to reconnect the one that was supposed to run its course for the duration of its 36 month term. And cancel the one that was supposed to expire and did not wish to continue after the term was up. I didn't ask for any compensation for all the data and airtime I've paid for and not received, and loss of business I have endured but have still paid for the contracts, even though, no compensation was even so much as offered from their part. Only their apologies. And nothing could be done. Since the early termination could not be undone. But the legal fees I was supposedly liable for credited to my profile since they do not refund back to your bank account where the monies was readily taken out of unnecessarily. How does one take MTN on for breech of contract, since I'm pretty sure the consumer act should cover one in an event like this. I think I have been patient enough waiting and wasting my time stuck in limbo, building a bad credit record and receive no answers or resolution to my ongoing problem?
