MTN Newtown All Smiles and Poor Service

At the beginning of Jan, I app**** for an iPhone 8 at the MTN store in Newtown. I was informed that I would be contacted with the outcome of my application in two working days. No contact has been made since.

Yesterday, I walked in the said store and was greeted by two very friendly staff who told me that my application had been approved and that the delay was due to stock unavailability. They then recommended that I get a different model as the 8 would take longer. I accepted and opted for the XR which I was told I would receive on Wednesday (tomorrow). Before leaving, I emphasized the importance of constant communication and was promised that I would be called the following day (today) with an update. No such call came through.

So I again popped by the store after work where the friendly staff told me that I was somebody else's client hence they could not fulfill their promise to call me. Moreover, the rep to whom my business supposedly belongs had the cheek to say she was never told that I had changed choice of phone and she would only call me on Friday with an update on stock availability.

With all that said, I just have two concerns here;

1) How your reps are not trained to pick up a phone and call their customers for over three weeks is beyond me. Waiters in a restaurant can smile, pull chairs and change serviettes every time I get up all they want, but if the food is bad, I'm never coming bac****

2) Why is MTN failing to deliver stock on advertised items to their stores for such lengthy periods!

I have been with MTN for over 12 years, If I do not receive the phone on or before Friday the 24th, I will be taking my business elsewhere and porting my number.
