MTN NEVER AVAILABLE FOR CANCELATIONS

Just like several other complaints logged, MTN is not available to cancel contracts. You won't have any issues getting through to them when wanting to open a new contract or doing an upgrade though. My parents are pensioners who cannot afford their cellphone contracts any longer. They have gone into different MTN stores several times asking for help, apparently they are not able to cancel contracts at store level, and no one is even prepared to put them through to the call centre. My parents have tried several times and hold for an hour at a time to get through to them. I have tried several times myself to get through to them, with no luck. This is actually a crime! My parents have been trying for more than a month to give them notice because their contract expires end November. But because they are not available, it means they will continue being charged for a contract that they no longer need and money they can't afford to pay.

Reviewer Update
So the funny thing is, we eventually get through and are now told to go to an MTN store. I don't know why we have legislation and standards like Treating Customers Fairly, National Credit Act, FAIS, etc. when these organisations clearly don't take it seriously. I feel bad for customers who don't have access to resources and information to take matters further. MTN, you guys need to show respect and value your clients. I have been a customer of yours for the last 10 years, I too will now move elsewhere!
