Mtn negligence and lies left me penniless after banking ***** on a supposedly blocked sim card.
MTN South Africa My phone was ****** on Thursday 13 June 2019 night. On Friday morning 14 June 2019 I went to mtn bedford centre to deactivate the ****** sim. I was assured that it was deactivated and that the sim swop would take place within 24 hours. After 24 hours I called mtn call centre and was told the sim swop was rejected by user. I told them in the shop (mtn bedford centre)that there is no other number to contact me. They told me that the sim swop will still be done. The number that they sent the sim swop to was totally unrecognizable. This query was sent to the technical dept to be dealt with and was told that it will be dealt with as a matter of urgency. I was angry, yet assured by manager of mtn Bedford centre that the ****** sim was stopped so nothing to worry about in terms of use of my phone. After all, our phones have all our info required for ******** activity and *****ing my money. On Tuesday 18 june 2019 I still wasn't connected. Called mtn centre. They said nothing was done because tech dept don't work weekends. I went back to the store and they said that they would resend the sim swop, but that I can rest assured that the ****** sim was cancelled. While waiting for sim swop I discovered that my credit card had R45000 ****** from it. Then the sim swop finally took place at 2.30pm on Tuesday 18 2019. I reported the ***** that happened in the interim to mtn Bedfordview and they reassured me that the sim card had been stopped so the ***** couldn't have taken place with their network. I called 808 and was told that the ****** sim was only cancelled on Tuesday 18 2019. Four days after they said it was cancelled. Today I called mtn SA and they said it's a problem with the store. The store manager says that it's the fault of mtn SA. She also said that a sim cannot be stopped immediately, even if reported ****** by the owner. The procedure is that the ****** sim will receive a text message to be rep**** to within 24 hours. If the ***** accepts the text, then it won't be deactivated. How can this be possible. This is gross negligence and I'm left penniless until the ***** has been investigated by nedbank. Just for the record, I was dealing with Mtn SA via fb messenger. They were replying amd saying this was being dealt with( i can show proof of all communication via messenger, numerous calls to 808 amd assuramce that thisnwas being escalated)and trying to send feedback and then all of a sudden my messages have no longer been read or responded to. I have also sent an email to their complaints centre asking for feedback but nothing there either. I have been told by my bank that they won't be giving me my money back, as it was not their negligence but it was mtn who is responsible for this loss through their gross negligence or ******** activity within their staff. If I do not get a response to this in order to make things right, I will be taking this to higher authorities.
