MTN needs to catch a wake up and have people working for them who know what they are doing!
On the 6th May 2020, I called MTN retention dept. to get an amount that I will need to pay to cancel an existing data contract that I have with them. I spoke to a lady who confirmed that I need to pay R553.40. I did not make payment immediately as I was uncertain if I should still cancel. Then on the 19th May I called again as by then I made up my mind to cancel. I spoke to a guy by the the name of Kosego, (Ref.1-***) he then gave an amount of R1,268.88! I was livid that the amount to pay was so much as 2 weeks earlier I was told to pay half the amount. This guy was very unhelpful and said that he will escalate this issue for me. By the 9th June I got no feedback so I called again, Ref. for my call on the 9th June- ***. This time I was told to pay R341.33. Which I did, I made payment the same day. I called MTN again on the 12th June to confirm if they received my payment and for them to cancel my contract. This time I spoke to a Abdulah (***) now he tells me that he cannot cancel as he sees the amount I paid is not the correct amount. He said he will escalate this for me again and one of the managers will call me back. It is now the 17th June, to date I have not had anyone call me or let alone send me an email of what is going on. I refuse to pay a cent more as I paid what I was told to pay to cancel my contract. These calls are recorded so they can go back and listen to the recording to verify. MTN is useless, you have to hold on for nothing less than an hour every time you call them. Then they do not know what is going on and give customers incorrect information. MTN needs to catch a wake up and have people working for them who know what they are doing!
