MTN, money over people

My mother in law, a pensioner, fell foul to the MTN data share ****.

She was phoned and gave a person the OTP that was sent to her 3 or 4 times. The ******** used these OTP's to add themselves to her contract as a data share number and then proceeded to buy R12 000 data. Not very clever on her side, I know, but she did give them the OTP's. She isn't very technology gifted.

Luckily for her, as the transactions came through on her phone, there was someone there to assist her in blocking the data share numbers, stopping them from taking the data from her account.

No harm, no foul. Nothing taken, just contact MTN and ask them to reverse the transactions?

Apparently not, because she gave the ******** the OTP's, MTN is refusing to reverse the transactions and now she has to pay for 300 Gigs that she will never use.

MTN is unsympathetic to her being a pensioner and her admitting that she had made a mistake. She was told not to have a heart attack when they take the R12 000 off her account.

According to the people at one MTN branch, if she was on pay as you go, they would have reversed the transactions, but due to her being on contract, they won't.

Loyalty means nothing to them, she has been with MTN since she got her first cellphone which is close on 20 years.

I am strongly suggesting to her to not renew her contract with MTN and rather to migrate her number to another Network.

Why am I writing this review? It's simple, if you want to be on a network that cares for you as an individual, MTN is not for you. If you want a network that understands you, MTN is not for you.

If you want a network that only cares about money above people, then sign up for a MTN contract, you won't be disappointed.

Reviewer Update
It has now been 18 days since I wrote the above review and no response from MTN. I don't know why I am surprised by this.

Just another aspect of the don't care attitude by MTN.
