MTN mislead me and messed me about so I am now without a number

MTN South Africa: I app**** for a contract and went through the whole process, hours and hours. I ported my number from cell c and only AFTER going through the entire process (which also involved 4 different branches), I was told the credit check wouldn't allow me to get that specific contract- I wasn't sure what he meant at the time as it didn't make sense so thought we could still work it out as I had app**** and we'd done everything, approved it, done my bank statements and ported my number - taking out a contract is more complicated and more admin than getting married and I wish I was joking. So 2 days after the phone call about the credit check, cell C finally ported my number from their side and my number was cut off. I then went into MTN. They told me that the credit check wouldn't approve me for the contract of R199 with 300 MB data, 100 smses and 100 minutes but they would approve me for a contract that costs THE SAME but with only R110 airtime. That's complete nonsense!!! it's exactly the same amount I would be paying so how does that make any sense???? They wouldn't even a aprove a contract of R129 for 100mb data and smses & minutes- a contract where I would be paying less- How can a credit record say I can't afford to pay R129 per month but I can afford R199 if it's a worse contract!!!

More importantly I should have been told of this stupid rule before I filled out the whole application and went ahead or at least before MTN app**** to port my number! I am now sitting without a number and I use my phone for business so people really need to be able to contact me (and especially because every client used to miss call me when they arrived to open the gate so now this messes up everything and could cost me my job at the place I work at). Cell c said it takes 3-6 months to port back, I cannot be without a phone for 3-6 months!!! The least you could have done is just given me the mtn simcard to use on pre-paid with my number but that wasn't allowed. Also, the phone I wanted sony xperia m4 aqua; is no longer made and has no stock anywhere else. mtn was holding onto their last one for me...if I knew this would happen and take a month, I could of app**** at another company so that I could of gotten this phone but now after waiting for mtn, I fear it's too late to get this phone from anywhere else- all the other companies say they don't have stock and aren't getting anymore. I specifically wanted this one because it's water and dustproof which I need for work. There aren't any other phones that are and the upgrade is therefore worse for me as it isn't water and dust proof. I went to multiple cell phone stores and 4 mtn stores looking for this phone. It's unfair that I now can't get the phone I need because I was waiting for the port and only then was I told that I can't get the contract.

Obviously you won't be able to contact me on my number so my husband's number is: Brandon- ********** 082

email: iharttri****mail.com

(I do not think it is that branches fault and the guy who helped me was very nice but it's MTN itself and the credit rules)
