MTN Marketing Terrorism
I cannot seem to opt out of MTN marketing, and every other person who has filed this complaint on HelloPeter, gets instructions on how to opt out, however MTN sends this message as 'private', which doesn't really help the rest of us.
Furthermore, there is a portion of the app that allows for management of marketing and subscriptions. Each time I disable one, It tells me' you will no longer...' only for the option to re-enable itself seconds later.
Who is running the show over there? Its a disgrace.

13 Jul 2020, 11:22Hi Alice,
I am not bothered by the data notification. I have managed to disable this function before with the steps you have described.
My problem is with the MoMo marketing sms service. Where I am able to block every other sms I have ever encountered on my phone, the MoMo messages are the first which do not allow for me to block the number, nor reply STOP.
The sms is terminated in a poorly formulated sentence : 'Opt out *135# T&Cs'. Upon following the USSD code, I am received by a menu. I follow the sequence 3, 3, which brings me to a 4 item page, with each item representing a facet of marketing and my current configuration for each. Bingo! Right?
No such luck. The selection of each item gives me the option to "Do you want MTN to stop sending you ***? I answer 'YES', and when I re-navigate the USSD tree to the same setting, lo and behold, the setting has magically changed back to active.
Please correct this.
