MTN- MAKING LIVES A WHOLE LOT BROKER....
I need assistance in correcting the account discrepancies that have occured against my account of late. Which have come out of no where.
The first discrepancy was last month (December 2022), which now in hindsight I wish I had not paid: I received this text message:
Y'ello! Just a friendly reminder that your MTN debit order of R 1971.08 will go off on 25-Dec-2022. Have a good month!
On receiving this message, I went to an MTN store and queried it, even though the consultant also didn't seem to understand the charges, I still paid in good faith and in order to get my internet up and running.
Fast Forward to this month and I receive the following text message:
Y'ello! Just a friendly reminder that your MTN debit order of R 2697.08 will go off on 25-Jan-2023. Have a good month!
I called in and spoke to a consultant by the name of Samantha and so did my sister, and even Samantha saw that the spend limit was at R0. There is once again , no explanation for these charges. Regardless, it still makes no sense as when I use up data on my router and phone, it doesn't allow me to connect so I buy data bundles off the app. Today while following up, I was also told of a high debit amount in May last year.
The plans that I signed up for is stated below:
The plan you signed up for is the MyMTN_Home _FLTE_150GB for a period of 24 months. Your contract start and end date: ***9 - ***6.
MTN Mega Gigs XS Contract date: 28-10-2022 to 26-10-2025
The amounts I am normally debited are way less to the amounts I have been asked to pay recently. There seems to be something wrong as I signed a contract for a specific amount and authorised a debit mandate understanding I would only pay a set amount and not fluctuating amounts. The fact that these amounts are inconsistent make it seem even more weird.
MTN do not seem to see any urgency in the discrepancy as all they tell me is that they have escalated it. Tomorrow is the 25th which is my debit order date and if I pay I am only cheating myself as it opens up more opportunitues for MTN to do this. However if I do not pay than I am left without Internet until MTN decides to take me seriously.
MTN seems to be holding me hostage, their service champions are more like hostage colloboraters, giving me bits of information but not willing to solve any issues on a higher level.
I am begging someone to have a look at my account. Surely I cannot be liable for random amounts which I have never been informed of. Accoding to BCCSA we should authorise debicheck mandates even if a debit order amount changes, we should be sent a new mandate so that we can control what is going off our accounts.. why isn't MTN abiding by rules and regulation set?
