MTN Lies, Disrespect and no service

This review is about how I was **** to and disrespected by MTN. Stay away.

About 2 - 3 weeks ago I ported my Vodacom number over MTN to start a new contract as I was promised that I will be able to use the E-SIM on my iPhone along with a normal sim card as a dual sim solution. I had to wait about 2 weeks for them to have stock of the iPhone which I understood and didn't mind waiting for.

I struggled to get communication from them. I did have direct contact with the consultant but as I did not want to bother him I called the store to follow their procedure. I was told over and over that "We'll check on the status of your order and we'll call you back.". This went on for about a week until I called the store and asked to speak to the consultant. I gave his name and I was told that "I'll let him know you called" then she proceeded to hang up the phone while I was still talking.

At this moment I was fed up with the utter disrespect and service that I've gotten. I eventually got hold of the consultant and told him I want a update on my order by the end of the day otherwise I would cancel it. Not to long after I got my update. All went well.

The day came where they had stock of my order. Now the system was the problem... They had to resubmit my port request which took an hour. After the port was approved they only then submitted my vetting to quickly discover the vetting could not be resubmitted as the system kept failing.

This went on for days. Eventually the consultant cancelled my order to re-create it. This did solve the issue and vetting and the port was done in 3 hours. I eventually got the phone at last.

All that was left was the e-sim. I required another number for work related reasons. I was told to wait a few days so that the MTN sim card I was given could be properly activated. I waited.

I eventually got the QR code for the e-sim and activated it. After activating the e-sim nothing worked anymore. I was unable to make or receive calls as well as SMS on either numbers. Nothing worked.

I complained to the consultant and he removed the e-sim from my account. Below and behold I could make and receive calls again. After that the consultant ignored me all together. I never heard anything from that dual e-sim again.

I was **** to in order to get the contract as the e-sim never worked. I eventually just forgot the idea about having a dual sim as a e-sim and went on with my life or so I thought.

Eventually I had to receive OTP (One Time Pin codes) to my number. I always link my phone number with online services that use 2FA where I have to get a SMS with a OTP code in order to login. I never had this issue with vodacom at all but with MTN I was unable to receive any SMS OTP codes.

Not only the OTP but several of my friends and co-workers was unable to send me SMS's. I would just never receive them.

I eventually called their 135 help line as the consultant is just ignoring me now that got me the contract. I complained that I'm unable to receive SMS's from certain people and that I'm unable to receive OTP's from online services. Google is the only online service that I was able to receive the OTP for but the rest such as LastPass, OVH and others just never reached me and still to this day don't.

The lady that was helping me over the phone activated "SMS roaming". This resulted in me not being able to do anything again. No SMS, No calls and no anything. I called back and explained. They disabled SMS roaming and I was able to make calls but not receive calls.

I called over and over and over and over for several days complaining that I'm unable to receive calls. All I got told was "Everything looks fine on our system. We'll reset your line. Please restart your phone after this call". So it goes on. A Endless loop of my calling them and restarting my phone.

Eventually I spoke to someone that escalated my issue. She escalated it and now I have to call them every few hours to get an update. It's been almost a week since I escalated it and nothing has changed other than them wanting more information.

I have been **** to about the e-sim, disrespected by having the phone hung up in my ear (I can hear them put the phone down) and I'm just tired of MTN in general and now I'm stuck with a contract that I can't even use because I can't receive calls.

Now I am taking out another contract at vodacom just to be able to make calls because I never have issue with them other than a few dropped calls. I need a contract in order to get a e-sim from vodacom for those who were wondering.

I will be porting my number back to vodacom when my contract ends in 2 years.

STAY AWAY FROM MTN
