MTN - lack of transparency

So my iphone with 50 days to remain under warranty packs up over a period of 4 days with the battery not charging. After being sent from pillar to post, I finally am told to hand in the charger and the phone to be sent away for repairs, it would take 5-7 working days.
After 3 working days I receive the call from the repairs department to inform me that my phone has liquid damage and it is not covered under my warranty and if I wanted them to repair the phone it would cost me R 3 600.

What liquid damage???? It has stopped charging and was never near any liquid whatsoever. I decline to have it repaired, as I am not willing to pay R3 600 for a phone which was NOWHERE near any liquid, and requested that I would rather collect my phone than wait for it to be couriered again.
I am then told that because i declined their quote to have it fixed, I must now pay R350 to get my phone back.
What utter nonsense!!!! What about disclosure beforehand and the consumer protection act?
I must now pay MNT to get back my so called liquid damaged phone, when I KNOW it is not liquid damaged and that they are just trying to make money out of me, knowing I still have 1 year contract with them! ****s!
