Mtn killing off lte sims.
I have mtn lte at home. On the 15th of June 2024 the modem registered sim card is dead. When you login in the modem it literally tells you the sim card is dead. I took it MTN. Where this happened. We tested the sim. It is dead. We tested the modem with another card. It is fine. They are very willing to offer you a sim swop for which you pay R150 non refundable upon failure. Sim does not work. Tested instore with another modem. Yet when they check your account all shows active. Then to discover I am not the first person to come in with this and that earlier the week MTN SA expressly informed all their shops to stop selling lte immediately and push fibre. LTE cards are now mysteriously dying off and they are either unwilling or unable to fix yet they demand you still full amount and keep paying debit orders for the time you have no service. Eventually when a manager answered their obone we were instructed to book in the modem for inspection. That was the 15th. I spoke with with mtn today and the repair department only received the modem on the 24th and nothing has been done yet. I am still down and paying for it. They now want you to buy fibre for which they are knly a reseller so its cheaper to get direct form the fibre companies. Mtn has no fibre of their own to offer. They just charge markup and when there is a problem they refer to suppliers as they can do nothing about it. Beware. If anyone has any advice please let me know.
