MTN, just cancel my Wi-Fi contract and we can call it a day
Where do I even begin to state my dissatisfaction with this company? This is me with an MTN number but ported to Vodacom in 2007... Story for another day.
After all these years, I thought to give MTN another try as I thought things surely would've changed with them. Imagine my disappointment.
I signed up for an MTN Home WiFi with Mondo, they sold what seemed like a great deal, unlimited WiFi, 5G connection with good enough upload and download speed for R399. I was sold! So I signed up in May 2022. June 29th the device was delivered to me at work.
Excited to use something promising after Rain showed us flames... Here's where my troubles started. When we got home and plugged it, it didn't work immediately and so we waited, this is after we called the Activation line. This is when we were told that the address was captured wrong, it stated Polokwane which was incorrect. The agent fixed that. Two days later, still nothing. We called again and we were told that the network towers were down. And this was the story all the time. A month later, more money than agreed was deducted, I reversed the transaction and called. No help.
I started emailing, was sent from pillar to post, told to email this department and the other, still no help. They then deducted in the second month and didn't reverse the double deduction initially as I was hoping I'd get a positive response from MTN and they'd refund me.
They did not contact me and I've been getting the same response: "Apologies for the inconvenience caused. The site that you are logging on to is down, reference number SMC/***, which is in hand with our technical department.
"The site/tower is down again, reference number SMC/*** Apologies for the inconvenience caused."
Always the same response.
We call after 4pm, the contract department doesn't answer the phone. Weekends they don't work, emails not getting positive responses.
I am tired and just want this thing canceled.
