MTN IS TRYING TO **** US!!!!

Cell phone contract

My husband and i took out a cell phone contract of two Black Berry phones with MTN in 2013, it was well until we missed a few payments and initially we decided to settle and close the contract in 2014 , we went to one of their stores in westgate shopping center where one of the ladies who was working there printed us a statement of our outstanding balance and arrears of R3650, and she had informed us that after we pay the amount we must return to the store with the proof of payment so to close the contract.

A few weeks after, we went back to the MTN Store to make the payment and we were told their system was offline and at that time our contract numbers had been given to other people so we had to get new sim cards , when we queried that with the concern of us still due our monthly airtime and data every month until the contract was closed the lady said because we were in areas they gave our numbers to other people and there is nothing they can do. She then gave us an ABSA Bank account to deposit the money to. we payed the amount required and returned to the store with the proof of payment and again a lady assisted us and assured that the account was now closed.

In 2016 august my husband started getting calls from lawyers saying that they were sent by MTN and threatening to take him to court if he doesn't make payment. our confusion was that how is that possible when we went to MTN and settled the amount and closed the phone contract. these lawyers are still calling both of us and threatening my husband with blacklisting him if he doesn't make a payment.

After drafting this review MIKE from the Complaints Management Team had given me a reference number and said he will follow up on the matter but it has been a long two months and i haven't heard anything from him.

The other puzzling thing is that we recently got my husbands credit record and the are no missed payments showing from MTN on his Record or anything regarding the matter being sent to the lawyers for non payment of the phone contract. We are really fed up with this because it is now disrupting our lives.
