MTN - Is there anybody out there??????

Out of nowhere my longstanding monthly recurring contract has just stopped and I have been left with no data (I have been a customer of MTN for over 20 years). On trying to find out what was happening using the app, I could not get any details. I then tried the website which then told me that the account had been deactivated and to call ***. On dialing this number I was told that it does not exist and being suspicious that it was an 082 number I looked further on the website and found the number to be ***. After being told that this was a zero rated call, the answering service said that the number did not exist !!!!! How the hell are we supposed to contact this company ? they are very quick to remind you about payments due but couldn't give a damn otherwise.
