MTN is the worst service provider I have ever dealt with
Honestly there is nothing positive that can be said about MTN as a service provider and their client service is just as disgusting. Since about September 2019 we have been having a problem with MTN disconnecting our two contracts every month. We always pay our MTN account on the 20th of the month and have been doing this for over 10 years already however some how MTN has decided that we don't pay our account and every month we are having to send them proof of payment before they reactivate our accounts. We have spoken to multiple people about this issue and no one could advise us what has been happening all they say is we are sorry. In December we got an answer from a lady at the call center when our phones were disconnected again, she advised us that the problem was the automatic generated reference that the bank used. She said that due to this the money goes to an account until they can place who's payment it is. This month they managed to disconnect our contracts twice in two weeks. We had spoken to a manager asking for this issue to be escalated and the following day our contracts were disconnected when we called to speak to him we were told he was on leave so we asked for his manager and we were informed that she was also on leave. The following week he got back to us with feedback stating that we used a 0 instead of an O when we typed the account reference for payment. We were grateful that we finally got an answer after months of calling to try get help. Funny how the very next day after receiving this feedback the account was disconnected again. So technically no one at MTN actually cares that their clients aren't happy. This is not just a problem with MTN contracts as we got my daughter a prepaid sim card for MTN thinking that it would be better as we have control and don't really need assistance for MTN staff. Sadly MTN doesn't seem to care whether it is a prepaid or a contract bad service is equally provided. We called yesterday as my daughters phone was saying that it was removed from the MTN network. The call center agent advised that the account was deactivated as it wasn't used for 90 days which iterated us as we had the sim card has been in her phone this whole time and we have been using it for Whatsapp messages. We asked for the number to be reactivated and we were told it should take 2 to 24 hours to reconnect to the service. We called this morning and we have to RICA the number again. Why must we go through so much trouble when the number was deactivated for no reason. Just to add to our frustration we get a rude call center agent that is stupid enough to give us attitude as if we are disturbing her. If a client tells you give me a second so that they can make sure they are giving you the correct number don't go and through a can you actually give me the correct number at the client. The service we got this morning is the last straw. We have snapped the sim card and replaced it with a new sim card from a different service provider. Myself and my husband have had MTN contracts for more than 15 years and we are done with MTN. As soon as we can close our two contracts we will be taking our business to a different service provider. I honestly will never recommend MTN to anyone I know and we have already moved my mom's, my brother's and my sisters contracts to a different service provider. Receiving sorry's from MTN actually means nothing any more as they say sorry today and tomorrow your account is disconnected.
I didn't reply to the feedback as I wanted to see if anything was going to change and surprise surprise nothing has been fixed.
Last month when we paid we made sure to use the correct reference number given to us via email. We received an sms on the 20th of January to say that the payment was received and yet our accounts were disconnected this morning again.
Why send out a sms stating that payment has been received when you are anyway going to suspended our accounts why not rather send a sms to say we can see you paid but we will disconnect your account anyway.
