MTN is *****ing my money

MTN South Africa stole R6 000 from me!

MTN is like a naughty child who cannot be trusted around the cookie jar (your money) and never does their homework or anything expected from them or agreed upon by both parties (yourself and MTN)

I relatively recently took over my contract from my father's name to my own name. This was quite easy, considering it took my wife months of struggling with them, three trips to Bloemfontein and 4 different MTN store to finally get her contract on her own name in exactly the same situation.

After I got the contract on my own name, the debit order taken from my account was different every month. The first month I could understand as there were transfer costs, administration fees and some hidden fees. No problem, as this has become an industry standard for a lot of services. The second month wasn't the agreed upon amount either, but it was close enough that I didn't want to make a fuss - an instinct that MTN no doubt takes advantage of often. After charging me different amounts for a few months, some quite expensive, and bombarding me with messages asking if I wanted to recharge so often it felt like I have a stalker that I could not stop, I downloaded the app and deselected a whole bunch of options that I most certainly did not opt in to. This had me annoyed. It was exploitation but at least the issue was resolved in my mind.

Then, a debit order of R3 500 was taken from my bank account. I am a student teacher with studies, debt, and my wife and I recently bought a house and have to get the home loan paid. I cannot afford this. MTN sent me an invoice and I noticed they charged me for 3 accounts that were not mine. I sent an email to ask what is going on and if I could have my money back. MTN said that I had to send multiple documents and write an affidavit at my nearest police office so their ***** department could investigate this (even though the mistakes were most likely made by their billing department). I sent the documents and MTN said they escalated the issue. After emailing every day for a few days asking when I could have my money back, they eventually emailed back and said the ***** department will investigate for 21 working days. 21 working days and then I probably have to wait however much longer for the banking department to drag their feet and give back what they stole. Then they took another R3 000 from my account the next month. I emailed and told them to stop *****ing my money. They eventually emailed back and asked for my ID number even though I had sent a certified copy of my ID. How pathetic! This clearly shows me they didn't even bother to look at the documents I sent them.

What am I getting for the more that R6 000 that I have been overcharged? The nearest store is over 100km away and always has the worst service and most *********** staff. They had no signal where I lived for 2 years and never have a signal on the road. They ask ridiculous prices for data. They ***** your money and after you complain, do it again.

As soon my contract expires I am moving to another service provider like Vodacom or Cell C. I will tell anyone that ever asks to NEVER join MTN, and I will continue to fight MTN so they stop *****ing from me and give back what they stole.
