MTN is simply aweful to deal with - PPP
MTN has continued to disappoint at every turn. After requesting migrating of my contract to "My MTNChoice Talk+ M" at end-August, I thought things had gone quite smoothly as the new contract was active within surprisingly short timeframe. However, I found that that I was being billed R599 for my contract while the advertised price was R399. When inquiring about this, I was advised that I was being billed correctly and that I would need to prove that I'd been advised that I'd be charged any other price. MTN had never communicated the new tariff either verbally or in writing prior to sending me an invoice. So, obviously I could not prove anything. After being overcharged for the second month, I inquired with MTN again. They refused to pursue the matter further, despite charging me R200 (50%) more than advertised. I was also following up why the incorrect credit from my employer had been passed on the account, as that was revised at the beginning of October. What I found on my November bill; not only was I still being billed R599, but my corporate discount negotiated with my employer had been removed, despite this being app**** for two previous months – September and October. This change was never communicated with me. And, the credit from my employer was still incorrect. Queried MTN once more. They advised that the discount didn’t apply to the package I’d selected and that I was not longer eligible for the discount, hence it was remove. MTN refused to provide any evidence that that this had been communicated to me or that the revised discount conditions had been communicated with my employer. They also refused to put me back on my previous package. So, I’m still being charged R200 more than I should be and I have no discount. Surprise, surprise; on my December bill, I find that my full corporate discount has been app**** again. But, the credit from my company remains incorrect. I escalated the matter to my employers HR and finance teams. They engage the MTN employee that was supposed to update the benefits regards the credit on my account. She commits to resolving the issues. A day or two later, I find that my phone does not work at all. You couldn’t make calls and when phoning the number, you’d get a message saying that the number didn’t exist. Escalate again. I’m advised that an upgrade was processed on my line. They also advised that I needed to go to the police to complete an affidavit stating that I had not requested the upgrade, and that the activity was **********, before MTN would investigate further. MTN refused to provide any proof of said upgrade. Referred the matter back to my employer’s finance team and MTN employee referred to above. By the next day my line was working again. Await my January bill; hooray, MTN passed correct credit amount from my employer for the first time. But, but, but, no discount app**** at all, erroneous pro-rata amount for contract, and both CLI and itemised billing services absent. Decision: cancel contract with MTN and move elsewhere. After being I client for +15yrs, you’d expect to be treated better. To be expected to pay R200 more for the same service that MTN is supplying others, let alone being able to find better value elsewhere, is simply unacceptable. At the time of writing this, despite having escalated to dedicated MTN account manager for my employer, MTN has yet to address any of the incorrect billing. BTW, I opened an FNB savings account for R5.25 per month, got an FNB connect sim. R399 prepaid per month – 4000minutes airtime. Far better value.
