MTN is not at all concerned about transparency towards the consumer when making a new sale.

After speaking to a consultant and agreeing to the costs and timeframes going over from one contract to another, they debited more than double the agreed upon amount from my account the very next month.

Apart from the fact that it was an absolute mission to open a query, they simply told me that the amount was correct because of pro-rata charges and outstanding device fees that had also been added. I then also found out that they had started charging for the new contract even before the current contract had properly come to an end (again something that was completely different to what had been discussed over the phone).

As a consumer, my hands are completely tied. Once they’ve received the “okay”, they proceed to do just as they please and then justify it with “yes…buts” and other conveniently omitted clauses.
