MTN IS A ****! *****ing money from customers who has cancelled the contracts!!!

I app**** for a MTN data contract in April 2025 via their online platform. MTN did seem to have good data packages however, after applying online, a consultant called me to place the order. She did advise me that if the data on the data plan was not sufficient, I could call back within a week and the plan would be upgraded. However, the data on MTN was depleted within 2 days. I instantly called MTN to increase the data as initially stated but I was thereafter advised that the plan could only be changed after 3 months. So not only was I **** to upon sale but I had insufficient data for the entire month. I then requested to cancel the data contract with MTN as I was within the cooling off period. I was advised to return the mobile router, which I did to the MTN store in Kyalami. I called in to proceed with the cancellation after the return and I was advised that the plan was cancelled. However, within a month, MTN has been debiting me for this contract every month thus far. I called in numerous times and visited the branch, who was also struggling to get through to cancel the contract.

I was advised by the MTN team at the Kyalami store that the contract it is still active and whilst on a call with the MTN retentions team are failing to cancel and they instead were transferring us there and there. They are saying that I must pay the cancellation fee but it's been months MTN debiting my account for something that I am not using and they still want the cancellation fee, which is incredibly frustrating. The MTN store has even emailed for cancellation but nothing has been actioned since April 2025. MTN is a ****. They just want money and as customers, we can’t even reverse the debit orders because they have a sneaky clause preventing us from protecting our own hard earned money.

I would never advise anyone to choose MTN!! They are disappointing and useless!
