MTN IS A *********, *******, UNSAFE AND NOT TO BE TRUSTED
On the 21st December I got a call from an insurance company who wanted to confirm the activation of the cellphone cover. I then asked what cellphone then they told me about the cellphone contract that I took with MTN. I was very surprised because I already have an account with Telkom and I did not open an account with MTN. I contacted the MTN customer number from a different network but could get through. I then went to MTNza on Twitter where I laid a complaint and they sent me a message that I should send my ID and bank statement to ***. I also sent an email to *** and was given this ref number #*** but till today no help.
On the 23rd December I went to MTN at Cresta mall to enquire on this account. I was told that the account was opened at Capegate shopping Centre LO6 Brackenfel for 2 cellphones and another 2 contracts were in Fourways. I have never lived in Cape Town nor Fourways. I asked for the details and to my surprise it was my ID number with the wrong picture and there was a bank statement with my banking details but the transactions on that statement were all unknown. I opened a case of ***** and I was told they will get back to me after 3 months but sadly in the meantime while I wait (MTN) is still DEBITING R1700 from my account. I have also received my credit report and the MTN account does not appear but I received the bank notification of the MTN debit order which bounced as I am not employed.
MTN must follow up as to where the phones and the Data sim cards were delivered. who received them/who signed for the products and who are the ***** MTN consultants who opened these accounts. Again who performed the ITC check because they should have picked up that I am unemployed. How does MTN offer contracts to unemployed people?
Please help because this is infuriating and demeaning.
