MTN IS A COMPLETE JOKE
MTN customer service has to be the worst experience I have ever had. My number was hacked on Sunday. Called the customer care line and reported. I was informed they can not assist. I need to go into the shop. I go into the shop at Cresta and im told the only way they can assist is a simswap. I try to do a sim swap and everything is offline. When they finally get online, I fail some ridiculous security question where they require you to remember how much airtime you bought.
THen I find out actually there is no need for a simswap, customer care CAN indeed help me. The person who hacked my account is using the MTN App. my app does not require me to input an OTP which is a red flag. So now i need someone to assist in setting my phone up to ask for an OTP.
Again I was told by customer to go into the shop. Low and behold the staff at Cresta know NOTHING about the MTN app, so now i need to call customer care so they can reach a consensus on what to do. Customer care says they will reset my phone, I must switch it off for 15 mins and it should be fine. Guess what? it wasnt. Call customer service again. The manager informs me that it shouldve been escalated to *****, which she does, and informs me that ***** will revert in 24 hours. that was on the 19th. It is now the 21st and ***** still hasnt called.
Here is the gag, MTN tweeted me and asked for a description and number today. I have been giving them a description and number since SUNDAY.
