MTN I’m so disappointed on how you enable ***** to affect your customers.I had my number all my life , using my number only for what’s app due to not having a second cell phone to put the SIM card and on the 11/08/26 my WhatsApp was hacked. Went to your branch on the 12/08/26 and I was told my number was given to someone else in January 2026 funny enough the person given my number was not using WhatsApp since January 2026 when numbe was given until now that I m hacked and sim swap is done. Another I find it funny mtn says after 90 days of number not buying data or airtime number is given to someone else. The last time the person my number is given my number to last bought airtime on the 14/01/2026 according to information given by your ***** department. it’s been more than 180 days and number was not taken and given to someone else and the ***** department does not know why. Until I was hacked there’s been no transactions or activity on the number. Went to the branch on Thursday 13/08/26 and I was that the owner of the SIM card reversed the sim swap inside the branch ID, affidavit and proof of address was submitted only to find out through ***** department that sim swap reversal was done via call centre not sure why branch **** about that information. Even though sim swap was reversed number has been on voicemail, no data or airtime has been bought but number is with someone. Why did branch lie and now it’s suspected that the person could have made the number ,number for life but system can’t confirm how MTN. It’s very important that we feel safe and protected all of a sudden I don’t feel safe. Branch told me they can give me my number back if I take contract and they will link number to contract imagine now I must be indebted for me to get my number How MTN. How do you ask person questions based on the activities done by the *****ulent person and expect them to pass sim swap .worse part is that everytime we buy SIM cards we are required to bring ID and Proof of address for FICA only to find out that information is not captured anywhere in the system they just look at it. The number is given away but they don’t even know who the number belongs to now no Rica no nothing can’t even open case with SAPS cz mtn does not have any information of the people they give our numbers to unless person has a contract with them.
