MTN internet services down for three days, no improvement 18 to 20 Feb 2022

If I could give less than one star, I would have. Me, my wife and daughter are clients of MTN and use them foe our general cellular service, and also their fixed LTE Supersonic for our data needs. This Friday evening (18 February 2022, around 19:40), we noticed that we could not access the internet on any of our devices. All our services were down and we could not even make phone calls. We live on a smallholding in the north of Pretoria, so reliable communications are crucial to our safety and wellbeing. On Saturday 19 February 2022, our services were still down, although our routers displayed full signal strength with a positive connection to the internet. At that stage I could make calls with my cellphone, but the rest of the services were still down, no Whatsapp, Telegram or even SMS's available. I called the MTN Supersonic and after I repeated my ID number to the "Superstar" as they are called, she started asking me questions about the router. I told her it's not the router that has a problem, as the issue extended to my daughter's router and all our cellphones as well. This person's incompetence was quite frustrating, as I had to repeat everything six or seven times to her. It was clear from her questions, that she was not fami**** at all with the operation of our routers. She finally put me on hold to enquire at another MTN office. After holding for some ten minutes, she came back and said she was just informed that almost all the towers in the Pretoria area were down and were receiving the necessary attention. It is now Sunday afternoon and we started receiving very limited internet access from around 17:00. So after three days, MTN was not able to fix their internet situation in Pretoria and here we are, still highly vulnerable with Whatsapp and other internet services taking up to 10 minutes to load. MTN could have informed all their clients in the Pretoria area of the problems by push messaging. The very fact that they did not even bother to inform their own Supersonic call center of the problem, displays their total disregard for the wellbeing of their clients. How many MTN customers were experiencing life threatening situations during the three days, with most not even being aware that there is a big problem with the MTN network being basically useless during all this time. We are truly highly upset about this government-like display of total incompetence and disrespect for their thousands of customers in the Pretoria area.
