MTN Insurance ****
I noticed that MTN has added a third insurance onto my bill in June. I only have 2 phones on my account and I haven't authorized a new insurance or received a new phone this year. I therefore went to a local MTN store to enquire and they could not explain why the insurance had been added. They gave me an email address *** to contact to query this. I sent my first email on the 12th of August asking them to verify which phone is linked to which policy and how a new policy was added without my knowledge. I received 2 cryptic emails stating that yes I have 3 policies, which was useless. I eventually got an email clarifying that the 2 existing policies are for old phones that I don't have anymore and my current phones were actually not insured. I had asked for the insurance to be transferred to my new phones on upgrade but this was never done. With regards to the new policy that has miraculously appeared, this is for my upgrade I got in November 2019 so I don't know why insurance began in June 2020. I requested immediate cancellation of all 3 and have been told I must give 31 days notice from today (I engaged them the 12th but they were so useless I couldn't get any info until now). They have also stated that to get a refund on this new insurance policy ''we requst the following documents to process the refund accordingly: -Contract summary from MTN - OMS pick up document or waiver form confirming that the insurance was never requested on the device.'' So they are stating that it is my responsibility to get documents for something I know nothing about and did not authorize. What is my recourse here? I have requested to speak to a manager but this gets ignored.
