MTN Insurance ****
Ok so I have 2 contracts with MTN and have been a customer for over 10 years.
I took out a new contract earlier this year, and was asked if I would like insurance on my new device. Which I did. I was told someone would be in contact, but I never heard anything. No sms, no email nothing. So I thought agh....they never activated my insurance.
Earlier this month I dropped my phone, I reviewed my invoice, seeing how long I would have to pay MTN for something that was now broken and saw that they actually do bill me monthly for insurance.
When I filed a claim I was told that it is rejected because they never activated the sim card. What? What does that have to do with the handset that I have insurance for. They said that it is in the policy wording and that it was sent to me via email. Which was just an outright lie - I never received any communication regarding the insurance. I told them to forward me this email, they couldn't, and referred me to the broker. The broker refers me back to MTN.
MTN is just *****ing on a monthly basis. Say goodbye to a customer.
Also if you do business with MTN and they want to give you insurance, do yourself a favor - decline the offer - check your statements that they don't bill you for it - and save the money yourself in case your phone breaks or is ******.
