Mtn Insurance claim

Hi, I recently lost my phone through a break in and I had a contract with Mtn that also came with an insurance policy. I made the claim with them but they declined my request saying I should have done something to prevent this from happening. I have tried to appeal but I am not getting any responses. I don't know what to do, someone please help me.
