MTN Insurance and PInnacle Marketing

I became an MTN client by default because NASHUA mobile closed down and moved all their customers according to their respective network service providers.

For the first time ever, I can not wait for my contract with MTN to end in September 2017 so that I can port out of MTN, I received a ****py service after submitting a claim for a damaged phone that I was paying insurance for, that line had an insurance for as long as I can remember, but when it came to claiming I was told all kinds of stupid stories of why PINNACLE MARKETING declined my claim. I do not even remember taking an insurance with PINNACLE MARKETING, as I became as MTN customer by default. I never experienced any problems with NASHUA MOBILE.

Long story, my phone got damaged towards the end of September 2016 and I took it to MTN Repair Centre- PE for repairs mid-October 2016, when I got there they checked on the system using the IMEI number to see if it was really insured, they checked and could not pick it up on the system. I was advised to bring the paperwork I got when I bought the phone and I indicated that it was at home, +-300km away from where I stay now. I went home weeks later for the box and paperwork, and went back to the Repair Centre; they logged a claim in November 2016. There was a huge backlog then I remember how difficult it was to get through when following up on my claim until Pinnacle Marketing came in.

They then said my claim was late, I went back to the repair centre to request them to write me something that states I submitted the claim on time but due to not having the paperwork, and MTN incorrectly capturing the IMEI of my device incorrect on the system (had it been correctly captured, the system would have picked it up that my device was insured). Then the insurance said my claim was denied because it shows that a different simcard was on the device when it got damaged, and I said yes my other 'insured' MTN simcard was on the phone, as I had two insured lines with MTN, I don't see how that would be the problem, they then agreed to process the claim on condition that I get a Motivation from the Port Elizabeth MTN Repair Centre that states I went there to submit on time but due to the above issues I was sent back. I kept on going to the Repair Centre requesting Ms Milia Gogotya, the lady I dealt with the first time I went there, requesting the motivation; she agreed that she remembered my case, and that she needed her supervisor/manager to write the letter/motivation. She ask her manager to write it but the guy was not of much help, he sent MTN insurance an email and told me that MTN needs to give them an instruction saying they need a motivation for my claim to be processed, I even forwarded the guy the emails I sent to MTN and showed him the SMSs but he was still hesitant to write the motivation.

The claim was pending the motivation until I sent Pinnacle marketing (Lavona) and email informing them that I had exhausted all avenues of getting the Repair Centre to assist with the motivation that was required to process my claim and that I found it really unfair to be without a phone for over 4 months since the date I submitted my claim, having to have been paying R130 towards insurance. I told them that I was going to cancel the insurance because it was useless to me and I did so , right after the contract for that device ended.

I will never be happy with the service I got from MTN, MTN insurance, Pinnacle Marketing and the MTN Repair Centre- Port Elizabeth. All I wanted was for my damaged device to be fixed or replaced even if it meant being replaced by a cheaper device that the one I had.

No family member of mine will ever use the MTN ever.
